Appeasement Policy
The appeasement policy efforts by individual countries and the League of Nations to find a peaceful solution Hitler's aggressive policies prior to the start of World War II.
Bicameral
Consisting of, or based on two legislative chambers (joint responsibility between two governing bodies). For example the British and Indian nations developed a bicameral form of government.
Census
An official, usually periodic counting of a population, often including the collection of related demographic information (such as race, sex, age, and number of people living in the same home)
Collectivization
Stalin's agricultural program, collectivization, forced farmers to pool their lands into government-run farms. When the upper peasant class, the kulaks, protested this program, some three million of them were killed during a reign of terror in 1929 to 1930.
Communism
A political theory or system of social organization based on the concept that all property and economic wealth is owned by the community or state (the people own everything there is no private ownership of homes or industry).
Disarmament
The act of reducing, limiting, or abolishing weapons. Disarmament generally refers to a country's military or specific type of weaponry. Disarmament is often taken to mean total elimination of weapons of mass destruction, such as nuclear weapons. General and Complete Disarmament refers to the removal of all weaponry, incuding conventional arms.
Fascism
A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

Proletariat
