The Draft
This is a policy of mandatory enlistment into armed forces by all men between the ages of 18 and 34. This is also referred to as conscription.
Manpower
Refers to the amount of people both men and women who are available to do a particular job or work in a particular place.
Mess Hall
A place were military members gather to cook and eat meals in large groups.
Mobilization
The term used to describe the actions taken to equip, train and deploy troops on a massive scale in support of ongoing hostilities.
Rationing
The policy of limiting individual’s consumption or purchase of certain goods identified as necessary to support the war effort.
Segregation
The policy of separating individuals or a population based on race, religion or beliefs.
Resource
A natural or manmade material used in the production of goods. Examples of resources are oil, weapons and even human beings may be considered a resource.
