Amphibious Attack
The use of landing ships to place military troops on the ground in a hostile environment
Archipelago
An expanse of water characterized by having many scattered islands
Cryptology
The process and science of transmitting and breaking encrypted messages
Island Hopping
A strategic plan conducted by the Allied naval and ground forces during World War II in the Pacific campaign were the goal was to avoid high concentrations of enemy forces by advancing to other islands nearby (hopping) thus neutralizing the enemies ground strength
Naval Superiority
Refers to absolute control of a specific area of waters such as an ocean or a sea. When a force has naval superiority in an area it controls shipping and transportation of troops.
Seppuku
Ritual Japanese suicide committed when an individual feels dishonored or shame. This is also referred to the Japanese common tongue as Hari Kari.

The process of developing plans based on information, experience and knowledge of your opponent
